Paulo Miyao Dethrones Keenan Cornelius & Takes The Absolute Gold

Paulo

Winning the absolute brown belt as a featherweight is a big deal.  Paulo Miyao , after so many defeats to Keenan Cornelius, got redemption on Saturday night in California.

Paulo and Keenan exchanged sweeps and the score was 4-4. Paulo, always ahead, won the gold medal thanks to an advantage by attacking Keenan. With 3-2 on the advantages, the gold went to Miyao, who left the mat in tears – and a standing ovation throughout the gym.

“I trained hard to be here and do not even know what to say. So far, it is the best time of my career, but others will come (laughs). This time I tried to attack and run more underneath to try to make him lose and it worked. I’m not better than him, I was just better today. We have fought several times and he won four, I won only one. “
