Tye Ruotolo is set to defend his welterweight title against Dante Leon at ONE Fight Night 31 on May 2, 2025!
Both grapplers have been dominant in their ONE Championship runs, with neither suffering a loss in the promotion’s submission grappling division.
Ruotolo was among the first athletes to sign with ONE’s submission grappling roster, making his debut in 2022.
He quickly established himself as a force, winning his first four matches – before securing the welterweight title against Magomed Abdulkadirov at ONE Fight Night 16.
Since capturing the belt, Ruotolo has defended it once against Izaak Michell at ONE Fight Night 21, while also competing in a pair of catchweight matches, extending his record to a perfect 7-0 under the ONE Championship banner.
Leon’s rise through the ONE Championship ranks has been rapid as well. He made his promotional debut just over two months ago, submitting Bruno Pucci at ONE Fight Night 26 – and followed that up with a decision victory over Tommy Langaker at ONE Fight Night 27.
Those back-to-back wins earned him a shot at Ruotolo’s title.
Adding intrigue to this matchup is the history between these two elite grapplers.
They first faced off in 2020, with Leon taking the win by decision, but Ruotolo evened the score with a submission victory in their 2021 rematch.
