Gabriel Sousa and Gianni Grippo put on an exciting performance at ONE Fight Night 28 on February 8, 2025.
Their match, which was the second bout on the main card, showcased high-level grappling and strategic exchanges.
Grippo was making his promotional debut, aiming to make a strong first impression, while Sousa was looking to rebound from his loss to Mikey Musumeci at ONE 167.
And, from the moment the fight was announced, fans anticipated a fast-paced battle – which is exactly what they got.
With three previous victories over Grippo, Sousa entered the match as the favorite, and he maintained his signature aggressive style throughout.
He constantly pressured Grippo, who had his own moments of success, creating a back-and-forth exchange that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Despite their best efforts, however, neither fighter was able to secure a submission or a catch (under the ONE FC ruleset).
And so, when the match went to the judges, Sousa was awarded a split-decision victory in what was a closely contested match.
