New Wave’s Big Dan Talks Physical Confrontations “There Is A Reason…”

In a recent clip, Daniel “Big Dan” Manasoiu from New Wave Jiu-Jitsu shared a realistic perspective on using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills outside the gym – in a potential street altercation.

Manasoiu, known for both his size and technical ability in BJJ, urged fellow practitioners to focus on avoiding physical confrontations whenever possible…
Among other things, because the person they would go against is probably untrained:

The answer is – no [I haven’t been in a street fight].

If I ever found myself in a street fight, it’s probably against somebody who isn’t trained.
And they don’t know what Jiu-Jitsu is.

Taking that into consideration, however, Big Dan also emphasizes you should be careful if someone who isn’t trained wants to pick a fight with you:

That being said, if somebody wanted to pick a fight with me, you know that they probably got something on them.
You know – they have a gun, a knife…

There is a reason they are starting a fight against somebody much bigger than themselves.
It’s not worth it; some stupid street scuffle to cost you your life.
