Mikey Musumeci Says He’ll Be Mentored By Demetrious Johnson For MMA Transition

Mikey Musumeci has revealed that Demetrious Johnson will mentor him, as he prepares for a potential transition into MMA.

Speaking on the Overdogs BJJ podcast, Musumeci shared that the arrangement came together after a recent conversation with the former UFC flyweight champion:

I was just FaceTiming Mighty Mouse yesterday and he’s going to mentor me and really help me with MMA.

I can’t have a better brain than Mighty Mouse behind me, helping me.

Musumeci explained that his goal is to accelerate his development by learning directly from one of the sport’s most experienced fighters:

I don’t want to waste years learning bullsh*t…
Can you just come in, look at me, and be like, all right, you’re doing this, this, and this? And I just blindly listen.

Mighty Mouse is so great training for me…
He knows my strengths and he can instantly just make my game around that.

Musumeci made it clear that he fully trusts Johnson’s guidance:

I just want his mastermind brain to mentor me and I’ll just follow him…
He’s someone I could trust blindly because he’s just a GOAT.

At the same time, he acknowledged that his striking still needs development:

If I have adequate enough striking and I could get a hold of somebody, I could Khabib them.
