Mikey Musumeci recently discussed his decision to leave ONE Championship and join the UFC.
Musumeci explained that his contract with ONE Championship was nearing its end, and the timing felt right to make a change.
Plus, he noted that the UFC headquarters were just 10-15 minutes away from his home in the USA.
And no, there are no hard feelings towards ONE:
I just wanted to be back home in the USA.
I’m still good friends with Chatri…
I have no hard feelings for ONE.How can I have hard feelings for an organization that helped me grow so much as a person?
Musumeci expressed excitement about the UFC’s potential to elevate grappling – as well as play a role in further legitimizing the sport:
I feel like it’s finally another platform that could expand our support to people that wouldn’t typically watch Jiu-Jitsu.
We could really legitimize and professionalize our sport.
I just want a legitimate professional platform for athletes to have for kids that are growing up, so then they could dream of being a professional Jiu-Jitsu person.
