Mikey Musumeci Parts Ways With ONE Championship

Mikey Musumeci has just announced his surprising decision to depart from ONE Championship and to leave Asia.
The announcement follows a recent health scare at ONE 168: Denver, where Musumeci had to withdraw from competition due to a serious lung condition – which was brought on by complications from a failed weight cut.

Musumeci shared the news via social media:

With the opportunity Chatri (Sityodtong, ONE Championship Founder & CEO) gave me with ONE Championship, I was the first submission grappling world champion the organization ever had, and I had the platform and opportunity to help grow our sport of jiu jitsu to so many more people!

I will forever be full of gratitude to him, we traveled to 6 different countries together always training talking about life so many amazing memories.

Now, however, it is time for further steps to be taken in his career:

This part of my life I am ready to now stay permanently home in the US where my family is, and start a new chapter of my competition career and life!

Asia will always be my second home.
