Mikey Musumeci Accepts Bryce Mitchell’s Grappling Challenge: “I’m Not Worried”

Mikey Musumeci is taking Bryce Mitchell up on his offer.

After Mitchell publicly called for a grappling match, Musumeci confirmed he’s in – setting up a crossover bout between a UFC fighter and one of Jiu-Jitsu’s most decorated competitors.

On paper, the two don’t look like natural opponents.

But the logistics line up better than expected: both are signed to the same promotion, Mitchell has stepped onto the mats for grappling matches before, and a recent shift in weight classes has put them closer together than you’d think.
Mitchell moved down to bantamweight last year, while Musumeci just jumped up to that same division after years fighting at flyweight.

The spark came from Musumeci’s UFC BJJ 8 title defense, which Mitchell didn’t hold back on:

Once again, he will not wrestle. He sits on his *ss.
I will not watch that ever, and I mean ever. I don’t watch g*y stuff, I don’t entertain it.

I would do a grappling match against him, I think I’m the only guy that would actually beat Musumeci at those rules.

Musumeci fired back with an acceptance that came with strings attached:

Bryce Mitchell, I 100% accept this grappling match with you, but two things are gonna happen in this grappling match.

The first thing that’s gonna happen is I’m gonna do zero leglocks in this match, since you said it’s g*y let’s see what happens if I don’t have leglocks.
Then the second thing that’s gonna happen is pulling guard and butt-scooting.

Since you said that’s g*y also, I’m not gonna pull guard or butt-scoot.
So I’m not gonna pull guard, I’m not gonna do leglocks, let’s see what’s gonna happen.”

Mitchell wasn’t interested in the concessions, though:

You [are] amazing too Mikey. Thanks for the response.
You [are] such high levels above the competition you could’ve ignored me and never had to compete against me.

Thanks for welcoming the challenge. You can pull guard and do leglocks, I’m not worried about either brother.
I’m here to win and I don’t care [what] the rules [are], I’m in.
