Merab Dvalishvili Suffers Broken Nose (Again) During Winning RAF Debut

Merab Dvalishvili made a successful debut at RAF 9 with a dominant technical fall victory over UFC Hall of Famer Frankie Edgar…

But the win came at a cost.

Early in the match, Dvalishvili and Edgar accidentally clashed heads while battling for position, leaving Dvalishvili with yet another broken nose.
In an interview for MMA Fighting, Dvalishvili said:

The nose was fine before, but I got a head butt and broke [my nose again].

Fortunately for the former UFC champion, the injury was nothing new:

Who cares? I broke my nose many times. It’s never going to stop me. It’s just the nose broken. That’s what we do and it’s all good.

The injury came just weeks after Dvalishvili had already suffered a broken nose while training at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas.

Despite the visible damage, Dvalishvili appeared unfazed by the latest setback, describing it as just another part of life as a professional fighter.
Following the collision, it quickly became apparent that his nose had been damaged again, shifting noticeably in a similar fashion to the previous injury.

Still, the broken nose did little to slow him down.
Dvalishvili continued wrestling without issue and went on to control the remainder of the match, earning a convincing victory over Edgar in his first appearance under the RAF banner.
