The investigation surrounding Melqui Galvao has expanded significantly following the arrest of his brother, Enoque Galvao, in Amazonas, Brazil.
According to reports, Enoque – a civil police investigator – was arrested on suspicion of SA of a vulnerable person, sexual harassment, and psychological violence involving adolescents.
Authorities stated that the alleged victims were former students from an academy located in the North Zone of Manaus.
The case is currently proceeding under judicial secrecy.
Beyond the allegations tied directly to the academy, investigators also claim Enoque played a role in helping his brother communicate with alleged victims while in custody.
Authorities allege that Enoque smuggled a cellphone into the Dom Pedro precinct in Manaus, where Melqui was being held in early May.
According to investigators, the phone reached Melqui on May 2, while Enoque was reportedly on annual leave from his police duties.
Brazilian media reports state that Melqui allegedly used the phone to place video calls to former students connected to his BJJ College project.
Leaked footage reportedly showed him speaking with athletes from inside the detention facility.
Investigators believe some of the calls lasted more than 20 minutes and allegedly involved attempts to persuade or pressure individuals into changing previous statements given to police.
Reports also claim financial assistance and academy-related incentives were discussed during these conversations.
After the cellphone allegations surfaced, authorities transferred Melqui from Manaus to Sao Paulo on May 7.
A court later ordered his preventive detention, meaning he will remain in custody while proceedings continue.
The Amazonas Civil Police also confirmed that Enoque had already been placed on administrative leave before his arrest and will remain suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
