As the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world continues to grapple with serious allegations involving Andre and Angelica Galvao, UFC strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern has publicly expressed support for the longtime Atos leaders.
Dern shared her message on her Facebook page.
Alongside a photo of herself with the couple at Atos headquarters in San Diego, she posted a heartfelt caption:
These two always play a part in my camps, since my jiu-jitsu days until now in MMA, whether we are close or far away, they are always here for me! Thank you for everything family! Love you guys!
The post appeared while the sport is still processing allegations made by Alexa Herse, a student who trained at Atos from childhood.
Herse has described a pattern of inappropriate conduct over a period of months, including claims that Andre Galvao touched her inappropriately during training and made repeated comments about her body and appearance.
Dern’s public support immediately drew attention due to both her prominence in MMA and her long association with the Atos organization.
For years, the Galvaos have been connected to her jiu-jitsu preparation and fight camps, making the relationship a visible part of her athletic career.
