According to witnesses’ statements, Leandro Lo had taken down and pinned Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo (30) in a night club in São Paulo – in order to deescalate the situation that Henrique himself started, by grabbing a drink from the table of the BJJ champion.
After Lo let him walk away, Velozo turned back and fired a shot to the athlete’s head from close range.

Lo was then taken to the hospital, but there was nothing that the doctors could do to save him. He was pronounced dead at the age of 33.
The suspect, Velozo – a Lieutenant in the Military Police – was on the run following the murder, but then turned himself in and was arrested.
