A new UFC-backed grappling reality show featuring Gordon Ryan and Mikey Musumeci appears to be in the works, according to a recent leak by Kade Ruotolo.
While the promotion has yet to make an official announcement, Ruotolo casually mentioned the project in a recent interview.
This news aligns with developments from late last year when it was revealed that the UFC was creating a new grappling league.
Although the organization has already found success with its UFC Fight Pass Invitational series, speculation arose over whether the new league would replace it or run alongside it.
Then, Mikey Musumeci announced that he had signed an exclusive deal with the UFC, marking the first official confirmation that something big was in the pipeline.
Not long after, UFC president Dana White publicly stated that a submission grappling reality show was in development.
Now, Ruotolo has dropped the biggest hint yet about what’s coming:
Right now I think (Gordon Ryan)’s doing something with Mikey Musumeci.
(They) are possibly going to do some sort of Ultimate Fighter type thing for Jiu-Jitsu possibly, I believe…
While a match between Ryan and Musumeci is highly unlikely given their vastly different weight classes, the idea of them serving as rival coaches on a reality show in the style of The Ultimate Fighter makes perfect sense.
Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
