Khabib Nurmagomedov may be retired from professional fighting, but that hasn’t stopped grappling promoters from making repeated attempts to bring him back to competition.
The former undefeated UFC lightweight champion revealed in a recent interview that he still receives regular and financially lucrative offers to compete in grappling or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events:
I simply know that periodically they offer grappling.
Interestingly, these offers rarely come with specific opponents attached.
According to Khabib, the approach is more open-ended:
There were no opponents, there were no [specific names].
They said if you give consent, we will select [someone] there, that’s it.
Khabib mentioned that multiple proposals have come his way at different times and from different organizations:
BJJ, I think, got launched for them.
I think this is launching – there were different [offers] at different times, different [promoters].
Despite the constant stream of interest and the large sums of money reportedly involved, Khabib has remained firm in his decision to stay retired.
His ground game remains one of the most celebrated in MMA history, and his continued refusal only adds to the mystique surrounding his legacy.
