Kade Ruotolo Talks Mikey Musumeci Leaving ONE FC: “That Is A Pretty Big Bummer”

At a recent ONE FC post-event press conference, Kade Ruotolo reacted to the unexpected departure of Mikey Musumeci from the organization.

He did not hide his disappointment:

Obviously, that’s a pretty big bummer, you know.

I thought for sure we were going to get that match coming up here in the future.
Unfortunately, that last one didn’t turn out, and, you know, I think he had some injuries going on from his weight cut or whatever for the rest of this year.

So, I was thinking next year we were going to get it going for sure.

Kade is also, generally speaking, surprised that Musumeci decided to leave ONE Championship – simply because of opportunity cost:

I don’t really see where else he’s going to go to, you know. ONE Championship to me is, you know, not only just the highest level – but the most opportunity.

So, we’ll see where Mikey goes from there.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up coming back.

Musumeci previously shared the news about his departure from the organization via social media:

With the opportunity Chatri (Sityodtong, ONE Championship Founder & CEO) gave me with ONE Championship, I was the first submission grappling world champion the organization ever had, and I had the platform and opportunity to help grow our sport of jiu jitsu to so many more people!

I will forever be full of gratitude to him, we traveled to 6 different countries together always training talking about life so many amazing memories.
