The 21-year-old Ruotolo made his highly anticipated MMA debut in June at ONE 167.
In that fight, he surprised many by displaying solid striking skills before securing a Rear Naked Choke submission against Blake Cooper late in the first round.
Ruotolo was then slated to face Mikey Musumeci in a submission grappling match at ONE 168 in September, with Ruotolo’s ONE lightweight submission grappling world title on the line.
However, an injury sustained during his $1 million victory at the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) in August forced him to withdraw from the Musumeci bout.
Now, Ruotolo faces a new challenge in Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba, who brings a wealth of experience into their November clash.
Training out of the renowned American Kickboxing Academy, the 31-year-old Mujtaba holds a 10-4 MMA record, with eight of those fights taking place in ONE Championship.
Mujtaba’s ground game is especially noteworthy, with five submission victories to his name – including a “Cryangle” submission finish of BJJ black belt Abraao Amorim in 2022!
