Veteran competitor Josh Hinger has released an emotional public statement, addressing the allegations surrounding Atos Jiu-Jitsu.
In a message shared on Instagram, Hinger described the situation as deeply distressing and expressed frustration with how the matter has been handled:
My heart is deeply broken to hear about the allegations coming from Atos HQ.
It’s nauseating to see how these disgusting situations have been handled. It’s infuriating to see how carelessly the team has been managed.
This is all extremely painful and confusing for everyone.
Hinger made his support for Alexa Herse unequivocal, stating that there is no circumstance in which he would not stand by her:
I don’t know what the future holds for Atos, but I can say that there is not a single reality in all the multiverse where I don’t stand behind and support Alexa Herse.
He went on to describe the collective emotional toll the situation has taken on those connected to the team:
There truly aren’t words to explain how I feel. There’s a deep sense of sadness, disbelief, and anger, but I think that grief is what really captures what many of us are feeling.
We are grieving as if someone has died.
Although Hinger left Atos HQ in 2022 and formally changed affiliations a year later, he explained that he had maintained relationships within the team until now.
Following recent events, he confirmed a complete break:
Going forward I have severed my remaining ties with Atos Jiu-Jitsu and Andre Galvão.
Reflecting on his time mentoring young athletes at Atos between 2014 and 2020, Hinger emphasized the lasting impact those relationships had on him:
The kids I mentored at Atos from 2014 to 2020, including Alexa, hold a special place in my heart.
I am completely broken over the fact that trust in our community has been shattered… I am committed to the truth and creating training environments that prioritize integrity, safety, respect, and accountability for all.
