Joe Rogan Questions Why Khamzat Chimaev Is So Successful: “Hasn’t Faced Elite Wrestlers Yet”

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan shared a somewhat different take on Khamzat Chimaev’s dominance…

And whether it has truly been tested at the highest level of grappling.

Rogan began by addressing a rumor that had been circulating online involving Chimaev and elite grappler Gordon Ryan:

Here’s something that people are saying is real. It’s not.
Everyone’s saying that Khamzat Chimaev and Gordon Ryan are going to wrestle. It’s not true.

From there, the conversation shifted toward a more realistic and compelling matchup – Chimaev potentially facing Sean Strickland:

I think the Strickland and Khamzat match is going to be very interesting-
Strickland is not an easy guy to take down and he’s not an easy guy to hold down… And he’s got a super awkward style.

While Khamzat Chimaev has looked dominant throughout his UFC run, Rogan acknowledged what makes him so dangerous:

His timing and his takedowns is f*cking insane. So good.

However, Rogan also suggested that Chimaev’s dominance may not tell the full story:

If I was going to make an argument against it, I would say he’s handling guys that don’t have a big background in elite wrestling.
They’re not, like, elite grapplers.

He pointed out that when Chimaev did face someone with a high-level grappling pedigree, the fight looked noticeably different:

The guy that he competed (against) that was an elite grappler gave him problems.
