This will be McGregor’s official comeback, after a prolonged hiatus which took place due to a devastating injury suffered in his last bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, where he suffered a broken leg.
Additionally, McGregor’s absence from competition was also prolonged due to the necessity of re-enrolling in the UFC’s anti-doping program, which he completed last October.
After undergoing the required six months of testing, McGregor received clearance to resume fighting as of March.
As for Chandler, the former Bellator lightweight champion has been eagerly awaiting his opportunity to face McGregor after being out of action for over a year.
His last appearance in November 2022 resulted in a submission loss to Dustin Poirier, bringing his overall UFC record to 2-3.
