Islam Makhachev On Khabib’s Absence From The Gym: “We’re Missing Him”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is considered by many to be the greatest of all time to do it in MMA.

He earned a 29-0 record to his name as a professional fighter and, after retiring in 2020, became a coach and started working alongside Javier Mendez at the famous American Kickboxing Academy (AKA).

However, even though Khabib’s switch to a coaching career saw immediate success – as Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov won the UFC and Bellator lightweight titles, respectively – he recently decided to retire from coaching as well.

“The Eagle” shared the retirement news on social media:

Concluding the year. The year certainly turned out to be a very busy and successful.

Take care of yourself brothers. I hope my decision is only for the best, a big hug to you all.
Thank you, you were a big reason for my success in sports.

And, according to Makhachev, everyone’s missing Khabib’s presence in the gym:

We’re missing him. We’re missing him in the gym, always now he’s not spending more time in the gym.

He’s traveling a lot and has business and family but he still comes in and gives me good advice.
We make the plans together but now he just stays with his family.
