Hollywood star Russell Crowe is set to collaborate with ONE Championship on an exciting new mixed martial arts movie titled “The Beast In Me”.
According to Variety, the movie will star Crowe alongside Daniel MacPherson.
MacPherson will portray a former MMA fighter who, after facing a family tragedy, decides to come out of retirement to seek vengeance with the help of a seasoned coach – played by Crowe.
And, well, the character’s return to the cage will see him compete under the banner of ONE Championship.
Production for “The Beast In Me” is scheduled to begin later this year and will continue into early 2025. Bangkok, Thailand, will serve as one of the primary filming locations, including the renowned Impact Arena – where ONE Championship will host an event on January 24.
The film crew is expected to capture footage throughout the fight week, incorporating real-life action from the event into the movie.
Crowe, who co-wrote the script alongside David Frigerio, is expected to join the production team in Bangkok as well.
Speaking about the partnership, Frigerio expressed excitement for the project:
With access to ONE’s vast network of athletes and events, we are poised to deliver an exhilarating cinematic experience that reflects the true heart of martial arts.
ONE Championship chairman Chatri Sityodtong is also enthusiastic about the project:
I am thrilled to be partnering with the star-studded cast and production team behind “The Beast in Me.”
I am confident ONE is the best platform to help tell their story of grit, perseverance and determination. We cannot wait to host their entire team in Bangkok at a One Friday Fights fight week in January.
