Gordon Ryan has reignited his feud with Craig Jones, seizing on Gable Steveson’s recent withdrawal from their scheduled superfight at CJI 2 to criticize both Jones and the event itself.
Ryan has long been skeptical of the Craig Jones Invitational, openly dismissing Jones’ work as a promoter since the tournament’s launch.
His stance isn’t surprising, given his position as the face of ADCC – a promotion whose spotlight was threatened last year by CJI’s debut.
Although Jones recently suggested their rivalry was over, Ryan continues to take aim at him.
Neither athlete has competed in close to a year – Jones last appearing at the inaugural CJI and Ryan at his ADCC 2024 superfights – but the tension lingers.
With Steveson pulling out of the superfight due to what Jones described as a training injury, Ryan mocked the situation and cast doubt on the official explanation.
He suggested Steveson withdrew deliberately to prioritize his MMA debut scheduled two weeks later.
And now, Jones has come back with a rebuttal himself.
Here is what he had said in his latest social media post:
If you plan on agreeing to breach a contract at someone else’s request, definitely don’t have your friend make a public post admitting to that and definitely don’t like it yourself.
