Gordon Ryan Issues Health Update: “This Is One Of The Happiest Days In My Whole Life”

Gordon Ryan has been sidelined from competition for a while due to health issues. And, even though he recently started competing again, Gordon still isn’t in the clear… As he continues experiencing stomach problems.
Nevertheless, he is getting better and better. As a matter of fact, yesterday he shared that he’s feeling the healthiest he ever did in the last 4 years!

Here’s what he wrote:

Just got off the phone with my doctor and we talked about how I’m feeling, test results, and what’s next. This is honestly one of the happiest days I’ve had in my whole life.

For 4 years doctors were telling me in fine and sending me home. Now I have a doctor who actually has objective numbers showing a decrease in my levels on top of the fact that I’m feeling better.
As you can see, I’m still a far way away from perfect, but it’s progress. I can finally have a conversation without suffering, I can enjoy teaching, I can train hard and not want to die mid round, and I’m only half way to better.

Gordon’s doctor is confident that he’ll make a full recovery in no more than a year… And Gordon says that he now better understands the importance of health:

I think it’s a little premature for an “out of the woods” post but I can confidently say I am getting better now. He said that my immune system is so compromised after this 4 years of abuse that my body has little ability to actually fight anything, so it’s taking longer than expected. He is hoping I will make a full recovery in the next 6 to 12 months.

It’s been a long road but I’m happy to have traveled it honestly. You don’t realize how lucky you are to be healthy until you’re not.
During every hard sparring or lifting session when I’m exhausted and looking for an easy round or looking to only do 10 reps instead of 20… I just think to myself: “Just be lucky you’re tired and not (as) nauseous”, and look for that extra push.
