As, according to Ryan, the first key difference is how people respond to adversity:
Winners use tough times and setbacks to propel themselves forward.
Losers use tough times and setbacks to wallow in self-pity.
In other words, the most successful people don’t avoid hard times, they get stronger because of them.
Another major divide? Winners embrace failure:
Winners are willing to experiment and fail.
Losers are terrified of failure.
Responsibility is another core principle he emphasizes.
Winners own their losses. Losers make excuses:
Winners take extreme responsibility for failure. Losers would have won “but”…
Winners don’t waste time pointing fingers or blaming circumstances, they find a way to make it happen:
Winners find a way to make things happen. Losers are okay with being average.
To Ryan, the real shift in mindset happens when someone decides to take full accountability for both their wins and their losses:
The SECOND you take extreme responsibility for your wins and losses, your outlook on life will change, and your quality of life will increase.
