Gabi Garcia Reveals Heartbreaking Reason Why She Chose To Compete At CJI Over ADCC

Gabi Garcia is one of a number of athletes who chose to compete at the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) over ADCC this year…
And she has plenty reasons so as to why she had done it, but it all boils down to one heartbreaking instance – the people around her.

Specifically, Garcia will have a superfight against Craig Jones, and she implied that her contract is higher than $150,000, which is a significant amount.

But not only for her. Because she wants to support her family and her hometown in southern Brazil, which was devastated by the recent floods…
Leaving many without access to food and water:

This is the highest payment in history, and they offer me this.
Not only that, they go donate money for south Brazil where I was born and have all this tragedy where people don’t have food and water right now.

And, even though she is sad that she will not compete at ADCC this year, Garcia has made it clear that for her the CJI payday far outweighs the prestige that comes with winning the ADCC title, given the situation the people around her are in.

She also addressed the critics, saying:

Before you judge me, go donate $1 [for those who are suffering in southern Brazil].

In Jiu-Jitsu, people hate me or love me.

My face is always on your timeline, because I sell.
I put my face out there for people to judge.
