3 years ago, BJJ world champion Gabi Garcia decided to change her training and eating habits.
The Alliance athlete posted a picture on social networks celebrating her physical evolution. Gabi wrote:
“A lot of people are asking me to post (pictures) before and during the diet period. I received some criticism for posting pictures like that, but people did not understand that is to help many people to achieve their goals. I’m still far from mine. I do not want to be thin! I want to have a better performance in training and competition. I know how bad it is being out of shape and do not want to go back to those extra pounds ever again! I respect my time and my body type. I love being big and will never be small! The first photo was three years ago. There was no miracle. I didn’t achieve it overnight.”
Last December she said Gabi said she had signed with a Brazilian MMA organization and that she plans on fighting in Brazil in March 2015:
“The deal is almost closed, but unfortunately, I can not talk about it now. Good news will come soon, I can tell you. I won’t be debuting in MMA this year, because we are already at the end of 2014. I can say that my debut will be next year in Brazil. Around March.”
Word in Brazil is that Garcia has signed with Jungle Fight with a planned debut date of March 28th. No opponent has been announced yet. The fight has been planned for middleweight (84 kg or 185 lb).
