Former Oklahoma State and Nebraska wrestler Albert “AJ” Ferrari was arrested last weekend following a high-speed pursuit in western Nebraska, an incident that has reignited attention on separate, more serious allegations against him.
According to sources, the Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper clocked Ferrari’s Corvette at over 110 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 80 near North Platte.
Ferrari refused to stop and fled westbound, eventually abandoning the vehicle and running on foot.
Authorities found identifying information inside the car and located Ferrari the next morning.
He was booked into Lincoln County Jail on charges of flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and obstruction.
The arrest drew renewed focus to accusations from a 20-year-old woman named Shaylee, who says Ferrari assaulted her on May 8th while she was eight weeks pregnant with his child, a pregnancy she says the two confirmed together on April 12th through a blood test at an urgent care clinic.
In a live broadcast, she described her physical state leading up to the alleged assault:
I was probably at my weakest at this point.
I had probably lost maybe like 10 pounds around this time because I was eight weeks pregnant when this happened.
She said Ferrari dragged her off the bed by her legs before strangling her until she lost consciousness:
He had both his hands around my neck and I don’t know how long he did it for, because I just remember sitting up afterwards. It felt like I was breathing out of a straw…
It was really hard to breathe afterwards.
Asked whether Ferrari knew she was pregnant at the time, Shaylee said:
Yeah, like a thousand percent. So this is like another part that makes it so messed up.
Shaylee said she was hospitalized multiple times afterward as her immune system weakened under the combined strain of pregnancy, poor nutrition, and stress.
he also pushed back on claims that she had fabricated the pregnancy:
He said I drew a line on the test. I didn’t even take that kind of test. I got a blood test at urgent care. That’s just not true.
On the subject of the baby, she was unequivocal:
I would never end my baby. That’s just not something I would do, and I wouldn’t give it up either.
It’s my baby. It may be his, but it’s never gonna be his. It’s mine.
