Mark Hunt was arrested in Sydney, Australia, on April 15 and later released on bail following a domestic violence-related charge.

According to court records, Hunt was taken into custody and charged with one count of stalking or intimidation with intent to cause physical harm.

Authorities allege that Hunt sent a threatening message to a woman involved in the case.
Police told the court that the message included a death threat:

I’m just going to m*rder you in the end anyway.

Hunt’s legal team has disputed that the message was ever sent, and no additional charges related to the alleged text have been filed.

Following his arrest, Hunt spent the night in custody at Ballina Police Station before appearing in court.
During the hearing, prosecutors claimed that Hunt acted aggressively toward both the alleged victim and a witness, describing his behavior as “intimidating and berating” and stating it caused “fear and distress”, ultimately leading to police involvement.

Prosecutors initially opposed bail, arguing that Hunt’s background as a professional fighter made him a potential threat.
His defense pushed back against that characterization:

Just because he’s a retired UFC fighter does not mean he is a domestic violence offender.

Despite those concerns, Hunt was granted bail under strict conditions.

He must reside at a different address and is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim.
His next court appearance is scheduled for April 30, where a protection order is also expected to be addressed.

According to reports, Hunt’s attorney indicated that he may plead guilty to the stalking and intimidation charge.

Hunt, once a top-10 heavyweight in the UFC, is best known for his interim title fight against Fabricio Werdum in 2014 and his bout with Brock Lesnar at UFC 200.
That fight was later overturned to a no-contest after Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance.

The aftermath of that bout led Hunt into a prolonged legal battle with the UFC and Lesnar, alleging fraud and misconduct.
The case was ultimately dismissed in 2025 after multiple rulings against him.
