Fabricio “Hokage” Andrey is set for a high-stakes bantamweight submission grappling showdown with Eduardo Granzotto at ONE Fight Night 36 on Friday, October 3!
For the 25-year-old Alliance standout, this isn’t just another match – it’s personal payback after falling short against Granzotto earlier this year at the IBJJF World Championships.
Andrey made his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 30 against Ashley Williams, where he dominated start to finish en route to a unanimous decision win.
But while the result was convincing, the performance left him unsatisfied.
Known for his aggressive submission-hunting style, Andrey was frustrated that he couldn’t secure the finish – or the $50,000 performance bonus.
Still, the experience of stepping into ONE’s spotlight had a lasting impact:
I literally have never seen anything like it.
And it’s a bold statement considering that I’ve been in pretty much every stage in BJJ and grappling around the world.Production is unparalleled, and the way you guys take care of me is second to none.
I feel very fortunate to be a part of the ONE roster.
The rule set itself also clicked with him immediately:
I’m always hunting for positional control that leads to submission. ONE Championship prioritizes submitting your opponent, so I feel much more confident fighting here.
That confidence will be key in his rematch with Granzotto.
Their first meeting, under the gi, ended in disappointment for Andrey.
He pushed the pace with constant submission attempts but left himself open on the scoreboard, allowing Granzotto to rack up points through positional control:
I feel like the rule set beat me. I started all the attacks, I disregarded the advantage I had on the scoreboard, and kept looking for the submission.
This time, the gi won’t be a factor.
The no-gi format removes the lapels and collar grips Granzotto previously used to slow things down, giving Andrey the freedom to unleash his trademark speed and creativity.
He’s predicting a fast-paced battle where his relentless takedowns and dynamic transitions set up a decisive finish:
Expect an even more aggressive “Hokage” this time around.
And when I’m done with Eduardo, you’ll be thrilled with who I want next!
