Fabio Gurgel: ‘People Don’t Leave Alliance. Fighters From All Over The World Come To Us & Make Us Stronger’

Alliance’s Fabio Gurgel. The “General”, leads the most successful team in the history of competitive Jiu-Jitsu.

In an interview with Tatame Magazine, he talked about the success of his team:

“We can separate the Alliance in two stages. The first, when the team came about in 1990 with the merger of the academies that were under Jacare. The idea was to be together, but without much organization. Even in Jiu-Jitsu, that time also had no such organization as a whole. We do not have athletes today leaving Alliance: we have fighters coming to us and making our team stronger and stronger, “he explained.

About why his team has won so many medals:

We got that one year, when we made five champions – 50% of the possible points. But it is very difficult to happen. You can not win, in the same league with Leandro Lo, Rodolfo and Buchecha. You can win one, but of the three, hardly. Work on basics is what decides the championship, “
