Eddie Bravo recently dropped some intriguing insider information about Garry Tonon – suggesting that the grappling star might be making a move to the UFC.
Tonon, widely recognized for his success in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has also been steadily building his professional MMA career since 2018.
Starting his MMA journey with ONE Championship, Tonon has put together an impressive 9-1 record in their featherweight division.
Known for his exciting fighting style, all but one of Tonon’s MMA bouts have ended in a finish, further solidifying his reputation as a dynamic fighter.
As Tonon has focused more on MMA, his grappling appearances have become less frequent.
However, he did achieve a significant milestone at ADCC 2019, where he earned a bronze medal in the under 77kg division while already 5-0 in MMA.
Since then, Tonon has balanced his time between the two sports, having four grappling matches and five MMA fights.
His only MMA loss came against Thanh Le during a featherweight title challenge – but Tonon has since bounced back with two consecutive wins, putting him back in title contention.
Eddie Bravo hinted at the possibility of Tonon showing up at the UFC, but also mentioned a potential roadblock:
I talked to him not too long ago and he said that there’s a chance that he might go into the UFC.
But ONE Championship can match the offer. They have the option to match it or whatever. But can you imagine Garry Tonon against these f***ing Russians man?
