Eddie Bravo has openly acknowledged that his time on the mats is coming to an end.
At 55 years old, Bravo says the physical toll of a lifetime in Jiu-Jitsu has finally caught up with him:
I’m almost done rolling.
The veteran coach described a long list of injuries that have made training increasingly difficult:
I have some lingering injuries, man.
I’m 55 years old…I’m trying to rehab my shoulder.
I re-injured my shoulder again.
Bravo also revealed that back problems continue to haunt him years after surgery:
They’re telling me I need another back surgery.
I’m a mess. I do yoga almost every day and I’m lifting weights to stay in shape.
Still, returning to hard sparring has proven nearly impossible at his own academy, where the intensity often leaves him sidelined:
It’s hard to roll, man.
There are so many animals in my room.I keep getting hurt. Every time I come back, I get hurt again.
My body can barely take it.
