The now-infamous ADCC 2026 match involving Dorian Olivarez turned into one of the stranger storylines of the tournament.
Olivarez said everything was going his way in an interview with FloGrappling:
The match starts out, I was dominating the match. I passed the guard already.
Once I’m in mount, he grabs my hand, puts it in his finger, and then bites down on my finger.
His response was to slap his way free, which briefly separated the two competitors:
I slap him into the kind of separate us, bring us up to our feet, and then say I’m disqualified.
Olivarez started walking off the mat, only to be pulled back before he could exit:
I hop off the mat… He’s ready to walk out. (But) they bring me back to say, okay, you’re not disqualified, you guys can finish the match.
So I get back on the mat, the match. (And) I submit him.
That wasn’t the end of the drama, though.
As Olivarez made his way off the mat afterward, a comment from someone ringside reportedly started a fight:
Somebody on the side is like: “I’ll beat trash in the parking lot”, or something like that.
And then overall it just kind of happened, people are grabbing onto each other and pulling me.It was a pretty, pretty crazy moment.
He came away from the confrontation unhurt:
Thankfully my dad is good too. Also, the Sainz brothers were there, and they were there to kind of help break everything up.
I’m actually really glad they were there because there was a lot of people, and they were there like right away, they came straight from the warm-up room and sprinted over there after the guy bit my finger.
So once everything kind of erupted, they were just ready to help out.
I really appreciate them being there for it.
Win aside, Olivarez said he would have preferred the day be remembered for his grappling rather than the chaos surrounding it:
It would have been nice to have a better performance. I only had one match, and I kind of didn’t know what to expect, but yeah.
