U.S. President Donald Trump has long been a vocal supporter of the UFC – and not just when it comes to attending events, but also when it comes to talking about it in other situations.
And no, not just podcasts and the like, but also when it comes to talking with officials from other countries!
For example, during his recent meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin as part of his annual St. Patrick’s Day engagements, Trump touched on a range of political issues, including trade agreements and tariffs.
However, he also took a moment to praise former UFC double champion Conor McGregor and the deep fighting culture of Ireland:
I do happen to like your fighter, he’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen.
Conor’s great, right?Talking about Conor, but you have a lot of great Irish fighters actually.
Great fighters.
Trump then proceeded to praise other fighters as well:
I don’t know what that is but Ireland’s always had a lot of really good fighters.
You know why? Because they’re tough people.
They’re smart people and they’re passionate people.
