Diogo Reis has won the ONE Championship flyweight submission grappling world title, securing the belt in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 38.
He becomes only the second athlete to hold the division’s championship, following Mikey Musumeci – who was stripped of the title after missing weight during a scheduled defense.
Since then, ONE has been working to rebuild the flyweight roster and establish a new top contender.
Reis positioned himself as the clear frontrunner earlier in the year, when he submitted Shoya Ishiguro in his promotional debut, immediately putting his name in the conversation for the vacant title.
ONE then matched him with Japan’s Daiki Yonekura, who entered the bout with strong momentum and a reputation for fast-paced attacking Jiu-Jitsu.
Across the duration of the match, Reis stayed a step ahead, consistently controlling position and forcing Yonekura to defend.
While neither athlete was able to secure a submission, Reis’ steady pressure and offensive activity earned him a unanimous decision – and the flyweight title.

Earlier in the event, it was also Lachlan Giles who stunned the fans by submitting Marcelo Garcia in one of the most talked-about matchups of the year.
