Declan Moody Wins WNO 30 Absolute Grand Prix After Dominant Run

The highly anticipated Who’s Number One (WNO) 30 event went down on October 24th, delivering a full night of action that showcased elite-level grappling and several surprising upsets.

Headlined by the Absolute Grand Prix, which featured eight of the sport’s top competitors, the event more than lived up to expectations — and ended with Declan Moody emerging as the new absolute champion after a gritty win over Dante Leon in the finals.

Before the main bracket began, though, fans were treated to several entertaining superfights.

Gavin Corbe opened the main card with a strong decision win over rising star Owen Jones, while Devhonte Johnson scored a minor upset by defeating tournament favorite Gutemberg Pereira via decision in the heaviest superfight of the night.

On the women’s side, Sarah Galvao made a statement with a slick Armbar submission against Trinity Pun, the only women’s bout on the main card.

But the real spotlight was on the Absolute Grand Prix, where the field of eight competitors brought a mix of styles, sizes, and tactics.

In the opening rounds, Dante Leon — the lightest man in the bracket — put on an impressive display, submitting Pat Shahgholi with a Rear Naked Choke before edging out Felipe Costa by decision in the semifinals.

On the other side of the bracket, Declan Moody, the heaviest competitor in the tournament, earned a D’arce Choke submission over Justin Michael and a decision win over Ryan Aitken to reach the final.

The championship match between Leon and Moody was a true clash of styles — speed and agility versus size and pressure.
Leon threatened early with aggressive leg attacks, but Moody’s composure and top control turned the tide.

A powerful takedown and sustained positional dominance secured Moody the judges’ decision, crowning him the Who’s Number One 30 Absolute Grand Prix Champion.
