Davi Ramos Issues Statement Backing Andre Galvao As Atos Turmoil Deepens

Former UFC standout and Atos affiliate leader Davi Ramos has publicly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Atos Jiu-Jitsu, offering a statement that supports his longtime coach while much of the team’s leadership structure continues to unravel.

As high-profile athletes distance themselves from Atos and the San Diego headquarters confirms the removal of Andre Galvao and Angelica Galvao from organizational operations, Ramos chose a markedly different approach.

In a post shared on social media, he emphasized his personal experience training under Galvao and rejected the idea that the allegations reflect what he witnessed firsthand:

In all these years working with Galvão, I never saw or heard any person making this type of accusation against him and we know the enormous quantity of male and female students who have passed through his hands.

He went on to describe his own time at Atos as formative and positive:

During the entire period I trained with him, I never received any improper teaching.
On the contrary: I learned about determination, intelligence and perseverance.

Ramos also drew a clear line between the ongoing investigation and his identity, as well as the identity of the broader team and his Rio de Janeiro academy:

What happened or what is still being investigated does not define who I am, nor who the Atos JJ team is, or what Atos JJ Rio is.

His comments stand in contrast to allegations made by Alexa Herse, who has publicly accused Galvao of inappropriate conduct over a six-month period while she was training at Atos.

Herse alleged that Galvao touched her inappropriately during training and repeatedly commented on her body and appearance.
She further claimed that when she sought help from Angelica Galvao, she was discouraged from speaking out and told her:

If it’s wrong, you have to at least act like it’s right. And don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Herse has since confirmed that she filed a report with local law enforcement.
