Danielle Kelly is taking on Mariia Molchanova – a Sambo World Champion – on November 18… And she’s confident in the win.
Despite Molchanova being a Sambo specialist, Kelly doesn’t seem to be worried about it. Particularly because she, herself, has experience in Sambo.
Here’s what she told ONE:
I competed in Sambo. I trained it a little bit at one point, but I competed in a sambo tournament.
The first one I think was right after high school or during high school. I won, and I took first place in both tournaments that year and the year after.
Kelly is convinced that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is better than Sambo, at least for the ruleset under which the match will take place – submission grappling:

But yeah, it’s fine, but Jiu-Jitsu is better.

Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
