Dana White Interested In Including Metamoris In UFC’s Fight Pass

Invicta FC and UFC Fight Pass have recently joined force in a broadcast partnership. With the confirmation of big MMA stars competing in the upcoming Metamoris 4: Chael Sonnen vs Andre Galvao and Josh Barnett vs Dean Lister, Dana White has expressed interest in including Metamoris in Fight Pass:

He talked to MMA Fighting about future plans:

“You might see a lot of combat sports and other things. We’re out doing a number of deals, including non-MMA. There’s tons of potential.”

In a recent interview with MMA in Asia, Dana White confirmed that Metamoris is definitely an option:

“It’s absolutely something we’d look at for Fight Pass. I think people are going to be surprised by the things that are going to pop up on Fight Pass. I said it when the thing first came up, it started out as a way to get the library to all the fans, they’d have full access, and it just keeps evolving and it’s only going to get better and better.”

One thing for sure, Metamoris’ current formula of combining MMA vs BJJ matches is getting a lot of publicity.

This could this be the boost to taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu one step closer to the mainstream.

Dana White has been see in the past saying that he thought that Jiu-Jitsu was “pretty damn boring”. Could having seen the recent Metamoris matcheschanged his opinion? Or is he thing from a pure business aspect of featuring MMA fighters in a BJJ event?

While White may find Jiu-Jitsu boring, he understands its importance and also believes that UFC this judges should be required to learn the Jiu-Jitsu game before they can properly judge a fight:

“First of all, boxing judges refereeing mixed martial arts fight, who know nothing about it, no former mixed martial artists, I don’t think you should be judging or reffing a fight unless you’ve actually rolled and know what a submission feels like. How about, knows what a submission is, first?”

White’s opinion on Jiu-Jitsu:
