Following his first round heel hook victory over Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29, Rousimar Palhares has reportedly been banned from the UFC.

AQccording To MMAFighting.com:

“UFC President Dana White delivered the news to ESPN’s Jeremy Shaap on Thursday night’s edition of Olbermann.

White added that not only was Palhares cut, he also won’t ever be allowed to fight in the UFC again.”

The UFC has also banned fighters in the past for similar actions: Paul Daley and Renato Sobral with post fight continuations of strikes or submissions. This is Palhares’ third strike with MMA sanctionning:  The athletic commission has already sanctioned him in the past  for holding on to a submission and, more recently, a failed drug test.

Manager Alex Davis spoke to MMAjunkie.com about Rousimar Palhares’ controversial UFC Fight Night 29 win:

“It might be hard for people to understand that don’t know Rousimar personally, but I’m telling you, he holds on out of instinct. He only realizes it afterward. But I think that the UFC has already deprived him of an obvious $50,000 bonus for ‘Submission of the Night.’ That should be enough, I think.”
