Dana White recently addressed speculation about Arman Tsarukyan possibly competing under the UFC’s grappling banner – and whether a matchup with Mikey Musumeci could materialize.
The topic came up after a reporter highlighted Tsarukyan’s recent activity outside of MMA, noting that he has taken part in seven submission grappling matches over the past seven months.
That level of activity has positioned him as one of the more engaged grapplers on the UFC roster beyond traditional fights.
The reporter also pointed to earlier comments from Claudia Gadelha, who has shown interest in arranging a matchup between Tsarukyan and Musumeci.
When asked whether Tsarukyan would be permitted to compete in UFC BJJ, White gave a characteristically open-ended answer:
I guess. I don’t know. Is that what he wants to do?
After the reporter clarified that the push for the matchup was coming from within the organization – and specifically from Gadelha – White offered a more definitive stance:
Well, I believe if Claudia wants it done, she’ll get it done.
Tsarukyan’s growing involvement in grappling has steadily built intrigue around potential crossover matches.
A bout against Musumeci, widely considered one of the best pound-for-pound submission grapplers in the sport, would represent a compelling stylistic clash.
