Craig Jones isn’t known for holding his tongue – and his latest challenge is one of his boldest yet.
While promoting his upcoming Craig Jones Invitational 2 (CJI 2), Jones appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and threw down the gauntlet to none other than Team Khabib…
Suggesting that his teammate Mica Galvão could run through Khabib Nurmagomedov’s top five grapplers solo under Jiu-Jitsu rules.
Here is what he had to say on the topic:
I think Mica could probably run through consecutively the entire Khabib team back to back to back to back.
I’m putting the call out on the show.
If you guys really mean business, give us your best five jiu-jitsu guys.Versus Mica Galvão.
I reckon Mica would submit every guy on Khabib’s team in under a minute.
When Helwani asked him to clarify if he meant a literal five-versus-one format, Jones doubled down:
Yeah. I mean, and that’s favorable to Mica in my opinion.
The call-out was a direct jab at Sambo, the Russian combat sport heavily associated with Khabib and his training partners:
Khabib talks a lot about how good Sambo is.
My opinion is Sambo is just a bunch of judo guys who decided to take their pants off and wrestle.
That is really what Sambo is.So, I want him to put up or shut up basically.
