Cory Sandhagen Shows Gnarly Hamstring Injury After Kneebar Attempt At UFC 329

Cory Sandhagen is scheduled for an MRI this week to assess an injury sustained during his UFC 329 loss to Mario Bautista – one severe enough to leave him limping through the final two rounds.

The bantamweight contender posted to Instagram on Monday, showing a serious injury to the back of his leg that developed after Bautista attempted a Suloev stretch before transitioning into a kneebar near the end of the first round.

Sandhagen was visibly limping back to his corner between rounds from that point on.
Bautista went on to win by unanimous decision, sealing it with a knockdown in the third round, with all three judges scoring the fight 29-28.

Sandhagen wrote on his social media:

Frickin bummer man. Losing in fighting is the most embarrassing thing ever. Sucks…

Pretty sure the knee bar tore my hamstring in the first (getting MRI this week). It kept locking out weird if I did certain things.
So that kind of messed up my game plan.

Congrats to Mario. He was well prepared. 1st was close but he won it with that knee bar. 2nd, I won (surprisingly cause leg was jacked).
3rd, I wanted to have the same round as before but got dropped.

Gotta fight near perfect to win at the top. Something I need to get better at.
