On January 9, 2015, the 4th season of Copa Podio gets underway. At the opening event, organizers are launching a Triple Crown challenge, a title that will only be disputed by fighters from the lightweight division. The top 3 fighters in the Lightweight GP will automatically stand a chance to challenge for the Middleweight title, at the event planned for July 9, in Argentina. If we they come in among the top 3 in the Middleweight GP, they will then be permitted to challenge for the Heavyweight GP and the Triple Crown, which will be won by a lightweight that manages to step up onto the podium at all 3 events.
The January 9 event sees Leandro Lo bid farewell to the lightweight division. The Copa Podio four-time champion will compete in the Lightweight Grand Prix for the last time before definitively stepping into the higher division for the next season.
The special attraction of the 4th season sees a challenge between fighters from the North of Europe (Vikings) going up against the tough contenders from Northeast Brazil (Cabras da Peste). Bráulio Estima (Brazil ) and Alexander Tráns (Denmark) captain the two teams.
Confirmations for the Grand Prix already include Edwin Najmi, AJ Sousa and Dillon Danis and Brazilians Diego Borges, Luan Carvalho and Felipe César. Old rivals and new generation stars will be gunning to overthrow Leandro Lo and secure his throne at his last event in the division.
The general schedule of the fights of the Lightweight Grand Prix January 9th, was released last Thursday (24) by the organization.
Check out the special order of the fights and the Grand Prix which starts right off the bat with a hot confrontation between Brazilian Lucas Lepri and Davi Ramos.
