The 2014 Copa Podio heavyweight Grand Prix will be the stage for an unprecedented showdown: World champions Rodolfo Vieira and Leandro Lo will face each other for the first time.
Another novelty of this cup will be Alan Belcher. The UFC middleweight has 18 career wins, seven by submission. He will try his luck in Rodolfo’s and Lo’s bracket. Belcher is a BJJ black belt with a win over Rousimar Palhares.
Last night, on the terrace of Hotel Atlântico Business, boasting a magnificent view of Sugarloaf Mountain, an event was staged to draw the groups for the Heavyweight Grand Prix.
The two groups were split as follows:
Green Group: Luiz Panza, Tim Spriggs, Travis Stevens, Léo Nogueira and Rico Bastos
Yellow Group: Rodolfo Vieira, Alexandre Souza, Alan Belcher, Leandro Lo and Faisal Alkitbe.
Event organizers are promising the biggest production to date for the event that sees the second season draw to a close.
