It seems that the former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has registered for a Grappling Industries BJJ tournament in London (UK), which is to take place on March 18, 2023.
And, even though the MMA superstar hasn’t made any announcements himself, it appears to be the case that he’s signed up to compete at the tournament.
Namely, there is a Conor McGregor who has signed up in the mixed brown and black belt adult no-gi division, at 185 pounds.
So, the belt level checks out, as well as the weight division. Additionally, the entry is under SBG Ireland – the exact same team that McGregor trains at.
McGregor, even though he’s known as a phenomenal striker, is also a well-versed BJJ brown belt. He’s entered and competed at BJJ tournaments before, so this competition doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
Moreover, everyone who’s trained with him has said that his Jiu-Jitsu is very good.
For example, back in summer 2022, he came to train at the Mallorca BJJ team, and this is what the team’s coach had to say:
We were getting ready to start our No Gi BJJ class when all of a sudden, Conor walked in. He was a very nice guy, humble and did the class like everyone else. We did the warm up and then went straight to rolling.
Conor has very good Jiu-Jitsu. Very technical and very strong. In my opinion, he is at black belt level.
