Comprido On Metamoris 4 Match W/ Saulo: ‘I’ll Be Prepared For Anything’

On the 9th August at Metamoris 4, BJJ legends Rodrigo ‘Comprido’ Medeiros & Saulo Ribeiro will meet. The super fight will be the only Gi match of the event.

The event, held in Los Angeles, United States, will feature the very hyped match between André Galvão and former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen.

Comprido is a black belt under Romero Cavalcanti and won his last major title  in Jiu-Jitsu in 2009, when he won the Pan American Masters Division.

In an interview with Tatame, Comprido talked about his expectations for the match against Saulo. The fact that this wil be the only Gi match is very important for him.

An Absolute world champion, Comprido has faced his next opponent on three other occasions: he has two losses and a win. At Metamoris, he will try to even out the score:

“We will defend the roots of our sport. Saulo and I are used to the pressure and we will represent ourselves well. Saulo has world titles in six different categories in the black belt. He beat such legends as Nino, Roleta, Murilo, among other names. In my opinion, he is the best competitor in the history of Jiu-Jitsu. He studies his opponents, has a lot of confidence and an exceptional technique. I’m counting the days until our  fight. ”

“I may pull and try to get under. I will fight for the submission, that’s the goal of the event. I think I shall fight standing, on the ground, head up or down. I know he wants to win as much as I do and I’ll be prepared for anything.”
