CBJJE Brazilian Nationals: Gracie Barra Black Belt Wins Four Gold Medals

The CBJJE – one of the most traditional tournaments in Brazil – took place last weekend. The tournament displayed numerous highly technical matches, as well as the Gracie Barra representative Leonardo Goncalves; who won double gold in the Gi and No Gi matches (super heavyweight & absolute division), thus amounting four gold medals!

The Gi matches at the black belt level at CBJJE featured other athletes who also displayed a diverse set of skills. Luan Pinheiro became a featherweight champion, whereas Klaus Maine took the gold in the same division. Leandro Lima and Diego Ferreira took first place at lightweight and middleweight, respectively; as well as did Elismaique Azevedo at heavyweight and Jacson Ferreira at super heavyweight.

As far as the colored belts are considered, Francisco Lo won open weight and weight at brown belt, as did Raquel Santos (CheckMat team). Rafael Borges championed at absolute (Alliance/Dream Art team), whereas Tamiris Fernanda (Dream Art) secured the double gold at purple belt.
And in the blue belt category, Thiago Saboia from the Alliance team won at open weight and secured the silver at middleweight, while Giovana Jara from the Dream Art team acquired double gold.
