Buchecha To Make MMA Debut Against Senegalese Wrestling Champion at One Championship

The winningest IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu champion of all time with 13 wins, Marcus Buchecha Almeida has a date set for his MMA debut. The BJJ fighter will face Oumar Kane on February 24th for the One Championship in Singapore. The information was released by Canal Combate.

Buchecha, at 30, also boasts two ADCC titles – the world’s largest grappling tournament – among other achievements in Jiu-Jitsu. The heavyweight signed with One and has been training in several MMA gyms like ATT, Kings MMA and AKA.

Buchecha’s Senegalese opponent “Reug Reug”, as he is known, also comes from the grappling world, but different from the Brazilian who specializes in Jiu-Jitsu. The base of the African’s game is in Senegalese Wrestling, known as Laamb. The 28-year-old has only one fight as an MMA professional and beat Sofiane Boukichou by knockout in the second round, in a fight valid for Ares FC, in December 2019.

In this Ares FC MMA fight, Senegalese wrestling king Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane sure made an impression against experimented fighter Soufiane Boukichou.

At one point, Kane was caught in a Kimura, he countered it by straightening his arm, then grabbing his opponent’s waist, getting up and power bombing his opponent!
