The next ADCC World Championship may take place in a brand-new location – Poland!
According to ADCC board member Renato Santos, the 2026 edition of the most prestigious no-gi grappling tournament in the world is likely heading to Eastern Europe.
If confirmed, this would mark Poland’s first time hosting the event, and only the fourth time since 1998 that ADCC is being held on European soil.
Here is what Santos had to say in an interview with Marcelo Alonso:
The next ADCC, they haven’t announced it yet, but from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be in Poland.
Poland’s submission grappling scene has long been active and competitive, and the country was represented at ADCC 2024 by elite grapplers like Marcin Maciulewicz and Mateusz Szczecinski.
This news also signals a shift in direction for ADCC. The last three editions – 2019, 2022, and 2024 – were all held in the United States under the leadership of Mo Jassim.
With Jassim stepping down after ADCC 2024, the change in venue reflects a broader return to the organization’s earlier format, where the event rotated between global host cities:
I expected it to be the United States, Brazil and so on but, man… I tried, right? I submitted my name.
I wanted it to be in Brazil, but honestly I’m happy it went there.
One notable campaign to bring ADCC 2026 to Brazil was led by Melqui Galvao, whose push ultimately fell short.
However, his efforts may have laid the groundwork for the 2028 edition of the tournament:
And 2028, there’s a 99% chance it’ll be here, right?
I want to make it happen in Rio de Janeiro.I’ve got some ambitious plans, things that have never been seen before, chasing iconic photos…
It’s 30 years of ADCC, so it’s the cherry on top…So my team, my ADCC side, including Mo (Jassim) and people from the board, are super excited for 2028 to be here.
